Readiness review – determine if you’re ready for verification, which level of assurance is most appropriate, and if Carbonology Hub training is required

Pre-Engagement Meeting – Get to know your business so we can generate a quote and timeline that suits

Pre-Verification  - Create detailed Verification plan, including audit scope, timing, and resource requirements.

Stage 1 – Review your ‘general information’ to help you draft your GHG report, and verify Scope 1 and 2 figures

Stage 2 – Scope 3 Emissions review and how you are planning to reduce your emissions

Verification Report and Assurance Statement – The final output of verification that details how you achieved this, including all findings and the final verified figures

Verification Certificate – Available to publicly display at your discretion.  Includes scope, boundaries and reporting period verified.

How to apply

Innovation in sustainability standards

Readiness Review

The first step is to complete a Readiness Review which will enable us to identify:

  • The scope and boundaries of your organisational emissions across scopes 1, 2, and 3.
  • The materiality threshold
  • The reporting period (s), and whether you would like your emissions verified to a ‘limited’ or ‘reasonable’ level of assurance.

Pre-verification

The Pre-Verification establishes the planned verification audit.  We will explain the evidence required and at this stage confirm your GHG emissions reporting boundaries.

We will then provide a detailed Verification plan, including audit scope, timing, and resource requirements.

Stage 1 assessment

Review of your GHG Inventory and supporting documentation

  • Initial review of your GHG emissions reporting system and data

Plans for next reporting cycle

Verification report, statement and certificate

  • Once all necessary actions have been addressed, the verifier will
  • complete the Verification Report and Verification Statement.  The Verification Report will contain all findings and details of the actions taken to address them.
  • The Verification Report will then be subject to an internal peer review
  • The Verification Statement will outline the included boundaries of the verification and Carbonology® Ltd.'s overall opinion of GHG information.
  • The accredited verification certificate will be issued.

Understanding your current carbon footprint is the key stage in establishing your next steps towards Net Zero.

Periodically measuring your GHG Emissions is not only essential for demonstrating yourprogress these targets, itʼs also becoming a stakeholder and regulatory requirement.

Carbonology® will Verify your GHG emissions data in alignment with ISO 14064-1 / The GHG Protocol on an annual basis, so you can publicly report your GHG Emissions Statement with confidence and assurance.

Your Carbonology® Verification Plan gives you peace of mind that your disclosure compliance is taken care of.

Making the most of your verification

In an era where carbon claims are coming under increasing strutiny, independent verification of the accuracy and transparency your methodology and verification process is of paramount importance.

At Carbonology®, we want to ensure that you are proud of your carbon claims.  To support you with your communications we will provide you with a Client Communication Pack which includes:-

  • Terms of use of the Verification Mark
  • The Verification Mark in high resolution formats
  • Example Communications Plan
  • Example press releases
  • Guidance on making the most of your Verification status
  • Three-year Verification Plan

Extending your verification

Once verified, you can apply to extend the scope of your verification at the next 12 month reporting period. Please email enquiries@carbonologyhub.com, quoting your current verification report reference number.

This applies to both extending your existing scope, and gaining verification under another verifiable standard i.e. ISO 14068 or verifiable data i.e. Double Materiality.

You are encouraged to discuss any proposed extension to scope with your verified prior to application.

Extensions to scope can be completed as a stand-alone audit, or as part of your next routine verification audit, or as desktop reviews depending on the scope applied for, and desired assessment time-frame.
